About Us
Foster Children Safe Haven is a not-for-profit, charitable child welfare organization helping children and teens throughout the following counties: Kern, Tulare, Kings, San Bernardino, Riverside and Orange Counties. The people who volunteer for, work for and donate to Foster Children Safe Haven connect vulnerable children with what they need and deserve: loving families who care unconditionally so all children and teens have a chance to lead healthy, productive, independent and happy lives.
History & Purpose
In 2006, a group of concerned and caring people created Foster Children Safe Haven to begin serving the hundreds of children in Kern county who were being removed from their birth families due to abuse, neglect and abandonment. The trauma from abuse and neglect and the resulting emotional issues required resource families with special training and agency support. Since that time, we have expanded to five counties as the need was also great in those other counties.
An Innovative Response
Foster Children Safe Haven recruits and rigorously trains resource parents to know what to expect and how to deal with the challenges of the emotionally needy child/teen. These committed resource parents receive continuous support and needed training from a team of Foster Children Safe Haven staff, helping the child find stability through unconditional care from families within the community.
Programs
All of Foster Children Safe Haven’s programs are designed to be nimble, creating services which match available resources with the needs of each child. Foster Children Safe Haven teams are tailored to provide individualized plans of care which are culturally sensitive and build on each child’s strengths.
